Hotel In Focus: The Marylebone

Chatting with Nicholas Davies, General Manager of The Marylebone, we discover his best tips for a brilliant stay at The Marylebone and an authentic, memorable London experience.

What makes a stay at The Marylebone so special?

A stay at The Marylebone is special because it offers a true village feel in the heart of central London. Everything is within easy reach - from world-class dining to boutique shopping, creating a uniquely accessible and varied experience. As part of The Doyle Collection hotel group, The Marylebone embodies its signature Irish charm and welcoming hospitality, ensuring every guest feels at home while enjoying the best of the village and the West End.

Which room is your favourite and why?

Room 292, which is one of our Deluxe King Rooms, is a firm favourite, offering stunning views through its large open windows, which flood the space with natural daylight. Adding to its charm, the room overlooks the quaint and picturesque Marylebone Lane, creating a truly luxurious and serene retreat.

What are your usual haunts around Marylebone and Mayfair?

When in Mayfair, I like to head to The Dover. This restaurant knows how to execute playful and intimate experiences in a very glamorous setting and the martinis are something to remember! When in Marylebone, it’s got to involve a strong gym session at Third Space, followed by an indulgent coffee at Monocle and finished off with the best sausage roll in London (minus the queue) at The Ginger Pig Butchers and Deli. Slightly off track but The Devonshire in Piccadilly Circus is my absolute go to if you’re looking for the perfect Guinness.

Absolute non-negotiable experiences whilst visiting London?

For food lovers, a trip to Borough Market is a must, offering a selection of gourmet delights. Enjoy a picturesque boat ride along the River Thames, and don’t miss the Marylebone Farmers’ Market every Sunday from 10am to 2pm, where traders sell everything from fresh produce and flowers to oysters and artisanal goods.

London’s best kept secret?

The cheese toastie at Hero of Maida Vale is a must-try - oozing with three perfectly melted cheeses and served with the most deliciously tangy chutney. Hero is a truly special pub and I’m lucky to call it my local.
